COMPUTER ASSOCIATES ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE IS REPORTING A PROBLEM OR DISABLING THE SPELLER

Computer Associates antivirus software including CA Trust, Roadrunner, Antivirus 2009 and any other CA antivirus software is deleting or disabling Sylvan's Complete Medical/Pharmaceutical spell checker program files that are necessary to run the spell checker. They may also be falsely reporting that the Complete Medical/Pharmaceutical spell checker contains a virus or a Trojan. You may see an error message that sp2kw.dll is not a valid spell checking dll file. Computer Associates is asking for customers experiencing this problem to contact them directly at 800-225-5224, press option 1.

If Computer Associates is not able to resolve this problem, Sylvan Software recommends that you download another antivirus software program. Disable your Internet connection. Uninstall your CA antivirus software, then install another antivirus software program. Enable or reconnect to the Internet.

You may also need to "Repair" the Complete Medical/Pharmaceutical spell checker. Double click the sylspell__.exe file or MP__2007.exe file that you downloaded, where the underscore is your version number. If you cannot locate the file, you may download again, by clicking the Download link at the top of this page. If you have a CD ROM, reinstall the Complete Medical/Pharmaceutical spell checker and select "Repair." Be sure to download the version that you purchased.
