This text file, MpReadMe.txt, is copied during installation into your Spell Checker directory for your convenience and you can find it in your "Program Files" directory under the "Sylvan\MedPharm2007 subdirectory.

System Requirements ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Intel PC with Pentium (586) or later processor, Windows XP through Windows Vista.

IMPORTANT: If you have a speller installed currently, you must uninstall it prior to installing the new speller or speller upgrade.

For Word 2007 and Windows XP, go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the Sylvan Med/Pharm Speller for Word 2007.

For Word 2007 and Windows Vista or XP Professional, locate the old installation file, i.e. MP23_2007.exe. Right click, run as Administrator and "Remove." If you no longer have this file, you may download it from http://www.sylvansoft.com/ or browse for it on your Sylvan CD.

Reboot your PC before installing the new speller or speller upgrade.

Installation ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

1) Log into your system as Administrator if you run Windows XP Professional or Vista. If you do not have or do not know your Administrative password, you may turn off the User Account Control located in Control Panel.

2) To install your new Sylvan Spell Checker, it is best to close other programs, especially virus software.

3) Establish an Internet connection if you are not already on-line.

4) (If you have a CD skip to #6) Click on the link to download your Complete Medical/Pharmaceutical spell checker. Internet Explorer allows you to choose the location of the download. Using your mouse pointer, choose the folder for download. Example: c:\temp Do not download the install file to your Windows desktop. It must be downloaded to a folder on your C: drive or the root directory of the C: drive.

5) When the download is complete, close the Internet Explorer dialog box. Double click on MP25_2007.exe if you have Windows XP. For Windows XP Professional and Windows Vista, right click, Run As, Administrator. Enter the Order Number, Product ID and Password that you received in your Sylvan Product Authorization email. The Sylvan speller will self install to Program Files\Sylvan\MedPharm2007.

6) If you received your Sylvan Spell Checker on a CD and you have Windows XP, the installation program should start automatically. Select "Install Medical Spell Checker" from the CD Menu. If the installation does not start automatically, click the "Start" button on your taskbar, select "Run" and then click on the "Browse" button for Windows XP. Browse the CD drive to locate MP25_2007.exe. Double click to start the installation.

For Windows XP Professional and Vista, do not allow the installation program to autorun from the CD. Select Browse from the CD Menu and right click on MP25_2007.exe, and Run as, Administrator. Or, click the "Start" button on your taskbar, select "Run." (Run is located under Accessories in Vista) Next click on the "Browse" button. Browse the CD drive to locate MP25_2007.exe. Right click on MP25_2007.exe and Run As, Administrator.

7) Follow the instructions on the Installer windows and in the "Sylvan Online Product Registration" dialog, enter the Product ID, Order #, and Password that you received either with your CD or by email from Sylvan Software

8) Restart your computer.

8) Word 2007 does not require any configuration and does not include an option to select different spellers as did previous versions. However, you must restart your computer at the end of the Sylvan installation to guarantee that the installation is complete.

9) You can test the installation by opening the SPTEST.docx file in the Program Files\Sylvan\MedPharm2007 folder and then select Review / Spelling from the Word ribbon to check the document.

You will want to set your own spelling options in Word. Sylvan does not set or change your spell checking options in Word.

Uninstalling ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

To Uninstall your Sylvan Spell Checker, do the following steps:

1) Log into your system as Administrator for Windows XP Professional or Vista.

2) Establish an Internet connection if you are not already on-line.

3) Windows XP users may uninstall by running the MP25_2007.exe program or by selecting "Sylvan MedPharm Speller" in the "Add/Remove Programs" utility in the Windows "Settings / Control Panel" utility. For Windows XP Professional and Vista users, you must locate the MP25_2007.exe program and right click, Run As, Administrator. If you no longer have this file on your PC, you may download it from http://www.sylvansoft.com/

Installation Troubleshooting :::::::::::::::::

Generally, installation of the Spell Checker is trouble free. However, there are a couple of issues that can sometimes cause problems, mostly having to do with the security settings for your system. Sylvan respects your security measures and the installer takes no actions to alter them.

1) The installer must write some values to your system Registry to tell Word that the Speller is available for use. Be sure that you have full Administrator privileges on your system during installation if you have Windows XP Professional or Vista.

2) Some system security software, when properly doing its job, can prevent the installer from writing the necessary Registry entries and even prevent the writing of needed system files. You may want to disable such software for the few minutes it takes to install the Spell Checker. If you are connecting to the Internet through a proxy server, be sure that the proxy firewall and content screening permit connection to the Sylvan server.

3) Product registration via the Internet can sometimes be blocked by Firewall software. If you are using a Firewall you will need to allow the "InstallShield Setup Engine" to have access to the net, for just a few moments, during both installation and uninstallation.

4) During installation you may receive an alert regarding a cookie. This is a session tracking cookie only and contains no personal nor tracking content and should be allowed.

Product Authorization Notes :::::::::::::::

The Sylvan Software Complete Medical / Pharmaceutical Spell Checker requires registration via the Internet to operate. While the number of times the same product can be registered is limited, Sylvan has made every effort to preserve your allotted registrations so that you can move the software to other computers as needed. Available installs display on the screen when installing and uninstalling.

When you Uninstall the Spell Checker, be sure to establish an internet connection. The Uninstaller will automatically contact the Sylvan Registration Server and attempt to restore your authorization to the database. Then, when you reinstall the software on another system, it will be there for you to use again.

Privacy FAQ's :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Your on-line product registration information is not shared by Sylvan Software with any other party. Sylvan provides no information about you to any other companies nor is your product registration information used for any marketing or tracking purposes.

During installation, Sylvan does not collect any personal information from your system other than a few items about the hardware and operating system.
